Making Public Relations Work for You

“An image…is not simply a trademark, a design, a slogan or an easily remembered picture. It is a studiously crafted personality profile of an individual, institution, corporation, product or service.”

-Daniel Boorstin, The Image, 1961

Advertising is controlled exposure that a company or an individual purchases; in contrast public relations (PR) attempts to secure favorable media publicity to promote a company or client. In advertising, clients buy space or time for their products or services, and consumers know who paid for the messages, such as a Pepsi Super Bowl advertisement. But with public relations, the process is more subtle, requiring new media to accept the premise or legitimacy of a PR campaign and to use it as news. Companies know they will sell more products if they are associated with a positive public image and values. Here are three great ways to secure public relations:

  1. Donate goods or services to a local non-profit.

  2. Have a professionally designed website that is easy to navigate.

  3. Coordinate a special event to support a good cause.

Let us help you with the numerous communication strategies that encompass public relations. Peppershock Media Productions knows how to create newsworthy events. We have cultivated associations with editors, reporters, freelance writers, and broadcast news directors to secure favorable coverage in the news media. Peppershock Media Productions creates high quality video news releases, public service announcements, press releases, and can build your website! We can make public relations work for you.
